A non-profit organization dedicated to developing and training young women in vocal arts.
The Columbus Girlchoir is a nonprofit, choral arts program that offers girls ages 9 to 18 training in vocal technique, choral style, vocal health and music fundamentals.The group's mission is twofold: it stresses a commitment to performing traditional music with understanding and excellence, while offering its members the opportunity to develop friendships with girls from varied backgrounds, and build self-esteem and self-discipline through hard work and dedication.
A few facts about Girlchoir:
·The 2008-2009 Columbus Girlchoir is the biggest yet, with 58 members in two choirs
·Membership is by audition and is open to girls in the Golden Triangle Area
·The choirs are supported by member tuition, donations from the community and a mini-grant from the Columbus Arts Council
·In addition to twice yearly concerts, the choirs sing for civic clubs, churches, major public events and nursing homes
